Book Sales Encouraging and Bastion Square Market is On!

Victoria BC's Annual Boat Show
It’s Spring the flowers are out and Victoria, BC is ready for tourists with Victoria’s Annual Boat Show beginning today in our beautiful harbour … our city’s first major outdoor event. Sunshine with a minimal chance of rain is forecast for today and Friday and SUNSHINE for the rest of weekend! … so begins another year for my husband, author, J. Robert Whittle and I.
I’m thrilled to report that in the past month sales of our books have already increased over last year, receiving online orders (we have now improved the Canada Post shipping charges having worked out a glitch with our new shipping program), emails, telephone calls and meeting people at garage sales. Who says garage sales are a waste of time … of course, the signs on our vans always help! Our books are also available on ebooks, all formats … at great prices (some just reduced at Kindle and Smashwords)!
The weather is certainly warming up (finally) and Robert is poised to return to Bastion Square, this weekend (Fri-Sat) if all goes well. The market (down at Langley Street for April) actually has been running for a few weekends with a minimal amount of vendors. Bastion Square Market officially begins May 3 from Thursday to Sunday with the new expanded Sunday market to include the former Government Street Market and a larger Farmer’s Market, both right on Langley Street for the summer.
We are encouraged that a fun and pleasantly lucrative season is ahead of us.
So come down to Bastion Square in Victoria, BC to see what is happening for 2012.

January:
February: Feb 18 – 9 am – 2:30 Tapestry School Conference, Esquimalt SS, Victoria, BC.
March: Tues. Mar 15 – 9 – 4 pm Senior Living Expo, Pearkes Arena near Tillicum Shopping Centre, Victoria, BC
April: 7th - Robert will be speaking to residents at Beechwood Villa, Sidney.
8th – 10am-2pm Spring Craft Fair @ SHOAL Centre, Sidney, BC
April 15th – Bastion Square Public Market opens, Victoria, BC (outdoor/city centre) Season Length: April 15- October 1 (5 days/wk weather permitting)
Robert’s 13th Season (10th at Bastion Square) – Robert’s hours are 9 am – 5:00pm Wed-Sun (official times are a bit later and are dependent on weather).
Robert’s spot is across Government St. from The Bay Centre and opposite the Irish Times Pub as it has been for 6+ years now. Look for his two large posters.
If you miss Robert at the market, we will be happy to deliver books to your hotel. If you’re planning a visit to our lovely city of Victoria, BC, this historical and beautiful market venue with its backdrop of restored historical buildings – originally the site of Fort Victoria – and views of our famous Victoria Harbour … and Robert (of course!), are worth the visit! Sidney Street Market - June 2 – August 25 – 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm every Thursday evening – Beacon Ave. is closed to traffic. Market is on rain or shine, but books don’t like it so we could be missing!
July:
Bastion Square Public Market (outdoor/city centre) (see April for details)
July 1st - Gorge Picnic (TBA) Family celebration along the Gorge from Tillicum to Craigflower Bridge – all day. Joyce can be found with the vendors along the pathway.
British Heritage Festival, Beban Park, Nanaimo, BC
August:
Bastion Square Public Market (outdoor/city centre) (see April for details)
24th – St. Mark’s Street Fair – 8:30 – 3pm - Joyce will be “On the Street”! Qualicum Beach, BC
Sidney Street Market – June 3 – August 25 – You’ll find Joyce here (she always carries books signed by Robert) from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm every Thursday evening – Beacon Ave. is closed to traffic. Poor weather may be a factor for our presence.
